Where are you located?

We are based in Old Street / Clerkenwell / Shoreditch area. Our full address: I REPAIR MACS, 163 City Road, London, EC1V 1NR

What are your opening hours?

Do you have a Mac repair store?

Our Mac repair centre office is on City Road, in the middle of Old Street, Barbican and Angel station. However, we no longer provide a walk-in service, so please CALL us for an appointment. Same-day appointments are available 99% of the time. We also offer a FREE SAME DAY collection and FREE delivery-based repair service in Zone 1 and Zone 2 (most postcodes) London.

Do you provide data recovery services?

Yes, we do. We carry out data recovery on MacBooks, iMacs, and Flash Drives. There are different levels of data recovery. However, to give some examples, data recovery on MacBooks where the Hard Disk (SSD) is not sold onto the logic board, the price is set at £180. We only charge this price on successful data recovery. iMac data recovery is £230. If your media is physically damaged, we will quote based on the level of damage.

Why do you need my device password? 👈

We ONLY need your device password to TEST the machine. You can choose not to give us your password. It will mean your device has been repaired and marked as complete without doing a “thorough test” - like we normally do. We could not do a thorough test because you did not give us full access to your machine.

So, as a business, we were not given an opportunity to test it properly and do our jobs to the best of our ability following industry good practice and guidelines. If you take it home and find there are issues because of the repair and you did not give us the password to test, then you may need to pay for us to do doing the work.

Also, some customers want to test when they come to collect or when it’s delivered to them. Which is absolutely fine. However, you still need to give us the password in advance before you collect or receive it back. This is because when you receive it, the repair would already be complete. The device would be closed up, and in most instances “sealed”, so to open it up again is like doing the entire job all over again.

Please understand, we have NO interest in your data. We ONLY WANT TO TEST.

We take our reputation too seriously to snoop. Apple Store or the Genius Bar wipes the computer to stop any risk of that happening. They make you sign a very long (20 page) terms and conditions. We don’t want you to have to wipe your data. But if giving your password for testing is not an option for you, then you can back up your device using the Time Machine before giving it to us. You can then wipe it yourself so we have a machine with no data. And once the repair is done, you can take it home and do a Time Machine restore. Even though it’s an extreme option, it’s still an option for customers who may feel uncomfortable about giving the password.

I’ll end on this. You should NOT give any repair service your MacBook/iPhone/iPad, if you don’t trust them - and this goes for us as well. If you don’t trust us, then it is in your interest not to use our repair service. We won’t try to persuade you.

Do you repair any other Apple Mac devices like iPads?

Yes, we repair iPads, MacBooks, iMacs and Mac Mini’s.

What is your Apple Mac repair warranty?

Apple Mac Repair Warranty is included with all Apple Mac repairs provided by I Repair Macs London. It is included as standard, and there is no additional cost. Our warranty repairs are for customers who have had Mac repairs done with us in the past.

Most products will have a one year warranty, and many products including iPhone and iPad screen repairs will also have lifetime Apple Mac repair warranty. For example, if you have an iPad that needs to be fixed, the warranty would cover it if it is something that is covered by I Repair Macs Apple device repair warranty.

Do you provide a battery replacement service?

If you’re experiencing an issue with your battery, your Mac notebook may not require a repair. Batteries have limited life, so most Mac batteries will need to be replaced at least once in their lifetime. Contact us with your MacBook model number or serial number and we can give you a quote for Mac battery replacement.

What does liquid damage mean for your Apple Mac computer?

Liquid damage is when water gets into the computer and damages some of the inside parts. This can happen from spilling a drink on your laptop or from a leaky sink, for example.

Liquid damage is one of the most common causes of computers breaking down, since water can get into many of the different parts that make up your computer. It often goes unnoticed and can be difficult to repair depending on how severe it is.

When liquid gets in, there are two major ways it can cause problems:
- If it’s just a small amount and touches nothing important, then it’ll probably only need to be wiped away before it dries out
- If there’s more water than can evaporate or you spill liquid onto something important like a logic board chip, then you’ll have to take it to a repair shop to be inspected and cleaned and or repaired.

Apple Mac repair shops can use various chemicals/methods and tools to aid in liquid damage repair. However, it’s important we receive the device as soon as possible, as liquid damage repair is time critical. Please call us immediately on 020 3951 7818 if you have had a liquid incident with your Apple Mac.

Is your Mac covered by AppleCare+?

“AppleCare+ is an insurance policy covering you during the policy period for repairs of or replacement your covered Apple device (Apple Watch, HomePod, iPad including Apple Pencil, iPhone, iPod or Headphones) in the event of accidental damage or battery depletion and it gives priority access to telephone technical support from Apple.”

AppleCare+ is similar to accidental damage protection insurance. It can protect your Apple devices in the event of physical damage. Some customers get confused between AppleCare and AppleCare+ (the plus) as they are not the same. You would normally pay for AppleCare+. It’s not cheap, so you should know if you have paid for it. If you have AppleCare+ we would encourage you to contact Apple directly for support to see if your policy is valid and if they can help you. If Apple cannot help you without incurring additional costs, then we would advise to contact us or any other independent Apple Mac repair shop for advice or a quote.
