How to update your iOS on your iPhone or iPad

If you are an Apple user or you are planning to buy your first Apple product, its best you understand how to update your iOS version. Updating iOS system is not rocket science, and with these simple steps, you can quickly update your iPhone or iPad.

  1. Back up your iPhone or iPad

Before beginning to update your iPhone, it is essential that you take your time to back up your system. You can quickly back up your phone or iPad using iCloud or iTunes. This can take some minutes depending on the available data you want to back up in your iCloud or iTunes.

 

Every Apple ID comes with 5GB storage, which you could store contacts, documents, pictures, emails from others. However, if the available storage is less than the required, you could upgrade the storage capacity. Apple offers additional 50 GB for $0.99 per month, 200GB for $2.99 per month and 2TB at $ 9.99 per month.

  1. Create Space

After backing up your iPhone ensure that there is enough space. You can temporarily delete some apps which you can reinstall them after the update.

 

  1. Ensure that there is enough power

Depending on your iOS system version, an update can take several minutes and even some instance hours. So before beginning to update your iOS system ensure that there is plenty of power. Alternatively, you can plug it into a power source as it updates itself

  1. Wi-fi

Upgrading your iOS system using your mobile data can be somewhat costly. So instead ensure that your iPhone is connected to strong Wi-Fi connectivity.

  1. Option 1

Go to the setting icon on your Apple Product

 

After selecting the setting icon, scroll downwards, you will find a software update option. Tap the option

You will be able to see if they are any available update or if your Apple product is up to date. If you iPhone or iPad is not up to date, you will see an option of Download and Install.

 Be patient as it may take several minutes or hour depending on the previous version you were using

  1. Option 2; Updating via iTunes on your MacBook

Take USB cable and connect your iPhone or iPad to your MacBook.

Go to your iTunes

When connected, your iTunes may display the following icon

ITunes gives you two option, Download Only and Download and Update. If you wish to just download the latest version then install the new iOS system later, place the download only.

If you wish to download and update the new iOS system version. Click download and update. The software will proceed to download and install the latest version into your system.
